Why sponsor Gleam?

Gleam is a truly open-source community project and, unlike most programming languages, it does not come from any particular tech corporation or academic institution. That means we depend entirely on sponsoring, from both individuals and companies.

What does “sponsoring” mean exactly? Where is the money going?

Sponsoring Gleam means funding the people who are making it: financially supporting the Gleam project or core team members. In both cases, your contribution helps fund further Gleam development.

If you choose to support the main project (which is under Louis' account), you’re helping to cover things like Louis' (Gleam’s creator) salary, sponsoring other contributors, hiring contractors, and keeping essential infrastructure like the package index running, among other things.

Sponsoring other core team members directly supports their input into the language.

Everything we bring to the language, like compiled JS getting 30% faster, is possible thanks to the support of our sponsors! Check out our full roadmap to see what we have planned next.

How do I sponsor?

Most people support the project via GitHub Sponsors, but we also have few bigger contributions from organisations like Lambda Class.

On GitHub you can support Gleam through Louis’ account as well as individual core team members to support them and their areas of expertise!
